10th August, 2014

Today we spent part of the morning down on the banks of the Pentecost River fishing for Barramundi or anything for that matter. Just as we got there we were standing on the bank and there was a couple of large splashes in the water directly below us. Some other people were convinced it was a crocodile, me not so much but it certainly put the wind up Trent and Clare. We didn't catch anything and neither did anyone else but speaking to one of the campers down there, people were catching them on live bait the night before.

The rest of the day was spent lounging around the pool and performing a bit of routine check over the trailer and vehicle. Found that the reason my centre diff wouldn't lock in when crossing the Reynolds River back in Litchfield was that the hose had disconnected itself from the top of the Diff Actuator again. I reconnected it but it's still not working. I am hoping it that any water that may have got there during the numerous water crossings hasn't done any permanent damage. I am not sure whether it's a vacuum hose or oil transfer hose that is perishing.

Got speaking to some fella who rolled his Prado just up the road a bit and offered him any assistance I could. He didn't want any but later on came over and gave a spare fan belt and wiper blades he had salvaged. His BFG had blown out the complete sidewall, not sure what pressures he was running but from what he said, he was running standard road pressures.

At sunset Alyssa and I went back up to the viewing point, knowing that the full moon would be closer to the top of the range. While we were there we were entertained by a group of staff from El Questro who were on days off and were playing the guitar and singing some tunes about 'The Kimberley.'

After dinner we went up to the Dusty Bar and listened to some music while enjoying a drink.
