31st July, 2014

This morning Clare and I went for a walk down the shoreline of Lake Argyle, just behind the infinity pool, with the change in time zones, the sun rises at around 5:30 am, so I am awake bright and early.

As we hit the shoreline I spotted a Freshwater Crocodile about 10 metres in front of us on top of the water, with the flick of his tail and a bit of a splash he was gone, all too fast for me to get a picture of him, all you could see was a swirl of water.

Then we spent the rest of morning relaxing around camp and basically doing nothing. I helped Alyssa with a bit of her maths homework, Trent and Clare went for a swim and I cleaned the inside of the car.

After lunch we drove down to the spillway where the water is released into the Ord River, the power of the water coming out of the Lake is spectacular.

From there we went down to the boat ramp and watched a sea plane take off, before heading out to the Durack Homestead. It's remarkable how they have dismantled this Homestead from its original location and rebuilt it up here, stone by stone. The original settlers really did do it tough when they drove the cattle from the Cooper Creek all the way out here, we have it very easy.

Tonight Clare took Trent fishing and she caught a Long Tom, looks very much like a Garfish.
