Just after the Roadhouse we stopped at Joes Creek and did a walk up along an escarpment through Livistonia Palms. It was one of the most stunning short walks I have done with the palms contrasting on the red and orange coloured cliff faces. There was a lot of a aboriginal art up the top of the escarpment as well.
While we were walking along near the top of the escarpment we had a minor disaster when Alyssa saw a snake just in front of her, she turned to run, backed into Clare, who also turned around and they both tried to run down a small path. Clare mounted some rocks and slipped arse over tit, cutting her knee and bruising her leg and forearm. All is okay, nothing a few band aids couldn't fix.
We then had lunch before getting back in the car and driving to the Western end of Gregory National Park. On the drive in to the Bullita Homestead Camping Area we saw wild brumbies and a dingoe. The road in was basically a well maintained dirt road with a few rough rocky patches. Trent and I threw a line in in the East Baines River but only got snagged. There are heaps of boab trees or upside down trees as Alyssa calls them around the camping area.
Alyssa and I walked down to river at night and used the torch to spot what we believe were croc eyes on the other side of the river, just floating in the water. We don't know if they were Freshies or Salties.
