29th July, 2014

This morning we got up pretty early and drove a very short distance down to the Bullita Homestead. It was remarkable to read the story of the woman who lived here and was nearly swept away by flood waters and had to cling to a tree for nearly an entire day to survive. The homestead is in original condition as are the stockyards. A child that Alyssa knows had visited the homestead 12 days prior to us visiting - Lochy Shaw from Bunyip.

When we left the Homestead we drove to Limestone Gorge, the camping are was closed so we had to do the shorter Calcite Flow Walk. The walk was interesting but not as picturesque as a lot of the others we have completed.

On the way back to camp we stopped at the Tufa Dams which were right by the side of the road. You would swear that the dams were hand made but they are naturally formed.

From there we returned to camp and packed up before driving out to the Big Horse Creek camping area where we had lunch and flicked a lure around for half an hour - no luck.

After lunch we drove to the Keep River National Park and set up camp at the Gurrandalng Camp Ground, what a picturesque place this campground is. We sat out the afternoon heat before completing the small 1 hour walk from the campgorund. It was a great walk with different views around each corner, offering great photo opportunities as the sun was setting on the different rocks and escarpments.

Just before we went to bed we heard a dingoe howling in the distance, he was obviously communicating with his mates because the howling got closer and closer to our camp site as if heaps of dingoes were letting each other know they were okay after a day at play.
