13th August, 2014

Last night was our coldest night for weeks, it was 6 degrees when we woke up but as soon as the sun came up and into view the temperature started to rise. While we were packing up Trent and Alyssa went fishing and within minutes were yelling that they needed me to come and get a fish off the line. Trent had caught a lovely Bream with his third cast.

Once on the road we headed for the King Edward River. The road started well and then went back to some nasty corrugations every now and then. Overall I believe that this part of the road was in better knick than the previous 60 k's but it still had some rough moments.

When we hit the turnoff to Mitchell Falls there was a grader on the road but apparently he is heading north not south. Didn't seem like he had done much on the Mitchell Falls road today.

We arrived at camp and set up before heading down to the river and falls, where Trent and I had a quick swim.

After that we went and visited the Warnmarri Art Site. It was very interesting, we saw tasseled figures, Wanjina and even an exposed grave site, which Trent thought was awesome.

Once back at camp we headed back to the river for a swim/wash and then had dinner. The colours on the rocks here are amazing and it's a very pretty place which is full of bird life. The colours on the paperbark at sunset at beautiful and this is a really peaceful place.

Tomorrow we make the trek up to Mitchell Falls.
