Here is the obligatory photo stop at the start of the road, the people with the van on the back had decided to pull up right in front of it and then make some long winded phone calls, preventing us from getting too close.
From here we made the trip into Emma Gorge. A short walk of 30-40 minutes leads you along a creek, over rocks and then to a beautiful pool with waterfalls dripping over the edges of the cliffs above. The water temp was very refreshing but there was a little hot spring feeding water into the pool, which provided some comfort from the cool water.
We then made the short journey to the El Questro Station Township, paid our camping fees and then continued on to our private campsite on the Pentecost River - Mapoke. It's a very nice site, with afternoon shade, nice rocks leading to the river and privacy, you cannot see any other campers from where we are. There are no toilets down here though it's a 3 minute drive away or 5 minutes back to the township.
Just before dinner we went back into town for and evening shower. I discovered that James Squire is now selling "The Hop Thief" in stubbies, so I had to have one. When we got back I was getting things out the fridge when the 'Clare' alarm went off. Alyssa had a tick trying to burrow in near the top of her ear. We managed to get it all off in one pinch with the tweezers, before it could do any harm.
